“Welcome back to San Francisco Mr President” - City Supervisors prepare letter to Obama, asking him to leave their dispensaries alone! - SFBG article by Caitlin Donohue.
Response posted both below and online.
I’d like to acknowledge and applaud the supporters and the supervisor writers of this letter.
I believe that President Obama must be asked at every stop about his stance on marijuana. We have Mittens on tape, laughing away at a reporters question on medical marijuana in Colorado. It’s been the number one topic since he’s been in office and he continues to avoid addressing it and has backpedalled. If it’s left to the States and we in Colorado pass Amendment 64 (regulate as alcohol - over 21 can purchase without medical card & tax it = $$$$$ millions for state) which also allows for growth and sales of hemp, I’m sure the farmers that stand to make serious bank will want to be assured and reassured the Feds won’t come after them.
Why are some people refusing to see that the money brought into to the states could save them? What are people afraid of? Did you know, we have to import hemp? We can’t grow it here in the US.
President Obama should not get away with saying he was keeping his hands off the states and then sending the Justice Department in to close them down!
Add in the media spinning this November election into a very close one & in states where marijuana issues are on the ballot, neither candidate addressing our questions. Other states we need to band together and work together and get our answers. These are important questions!

Good to know. You have a long road ahead of you, but I wish you well.
My response is there as Sarassheena.

Reminding myself not to feed the trolls, she throws a bone to one…
It’s not easy to grow quality medical marijuana. Yes, marijuana is a weed and grows just fine all by itself but the quality is sub-par.
I’m sure my fellow misaligned brainiacs would agree with me.. quality is key. I would gladly pay 15% tax on some very fine OG Kush.
Really, too bad you don’t know me. I’d rather sit home and smoke a joint and watch a movie.
It comes down to this:
No deaths from marijuana alone
No increased heath care costs - alcoholics are expensive to treat & oh yeh, kill people while they drive, and let’s not forget how many domestic fights are due to drinking.
Plain and simple, marijuana is non-addictive & not harmful. By legalizing and taxing marijuna like alcohol the state of Colorado will profit.
Do your research.
When I think of the United States, I see put the entire west coast purple. I make the East coast from Maine to northern VA purple. I make Colorado purple. All the other states, especially NC, OK, TX, OH, FL, the entire middle of the US and all of the south - Idiot states. Back asswords, close minded, out of touch with reality, idiot states with a large percentage of right wing loonies.
What kicked this off?
The article where the 24 yr old young woman got raped and the doctor wouldn’t give her emergency contraceptives. The hospital didn’t even have a rape kit.
There is no amount of money you could pay me to live, work, or visit your state OK.
